Friends and funeral homes :(

I just got back from the funeral home. A friend of mine since like the first grade passed away earlier this week. I found out this morning that the visitation was today and the funeral is tomorrow. Ran into several friends there tonight and it's ashame that we only meet in times like this. You always hear sayings like that from your parents when you grew up but now I am hearing myself say it. It's good that I ran into some of them when I got there. It helped some. I'm ok but tomorrow may be a bit rough. A little prayer would be helpful. Thanks.

Service Interaction

Ran across this today and in fact this is the second church I heard about in the blogosphere (don't know if I spelled that right) doing something like this. Basically you have your members in the service text message you during the service. In the first post I read and I will have to go back and find it but basically they request that members text their prayer and praise request to a number and they put them up in real time on the screens.

In this one the pastor had the members text message him questions and he answered them in the service or he is going to answer them over the next week on his blog and in the next service.

Happy Birthday to ... well me :)

Yes it's my birthday today. The boys called me as I was driving into work this morning to wish me a Happy Birthday. They were asleep when I left so Misty let them call me. Nothing like hearing your children wishing you a Happy Birthday :) She told me she took them shopping yesterday for me and they picked out the presents. She told me that Zach wanted to buy me paper cups :)

We will have cake and ice cream later this evening. Don't know about dinner yet. Maybe just something at home, we will see. I will try and post either tonight or tomorrow what I ended up with :)

Skypecast of your service?

I had some time to kill while I was watching five kids :O Misty was helping her aunt with a cooking party so I was checking email and such and logged into Skype. I had seen their skypecast on the client but never looked into it so I clicked the link and off I went. One thing I ran across I thought was neat is a church over in England is Skypecasting their services. Landsdowne Baptist Church is the church. I don't see anything on their website about it so I don't know how much they are promoting it, but yet another way of a church finding new ways of getting God's word out to the world.

Anniversary weekend

Well, I wish I had taken my laptop with me, to some extent anyway, this weekend so I could have blogged about our anniversary weekend getaway to the Smokies. Ok, so I really didn't wish that, but I would like to have found someway to blog about it. Somebody want to give me a Treo? :)

We dropped the boys off at my parents house on Friday morning and took off for the weekend. Wednesday will be our 9th anniversary and it's been the greatest nine years of my life :) We had dinner at Calhoun's, a local place known for their ribs, and at the Hard Rock Cafe on Saturday in Gatlinburg. Of course a trip to the Smokies is not complete for me without a stop to the Log Cabin Pancake House in Pigeon Forge. They have probably the best breakfast in the world there. Anytime we go down there, we have breakfast there one morning no matter if the hotel provides it or not. We also visited Wonder Works, an amusement park for the mind as they put it. They have over 100 interactive exhibits for you that range from trying to strike out Barry Bonds to landing the Space Shuttle. I wanted to try to flight the fighter jet, but it was running Microsoft Flight Simulator and it had blue screened, but that's another post. Pictures to follow :)

It was fun just to have time with Misty. With three boys, our time together gets real limited sometimes and we work on making time for each other when we can be it just dinner out or getting away for a night or two. We feel it's an important part of our marriage and feel that it's also important for the boys. It makes us stronger as a couple which means it helps us being parents also. I will have pictures up later.

Family Day

Well, what started out as a quick trip to Barnes and Noble ended up as a family day out. Keep in mind that they are across town and in reality they are across the next town. I was wanting to look for some books to learn some stuff for work and thought I would try the library first but no luck. By this time it was lunch time and a stop for some pizza and then to Barnes and Boble. After a while there with still no luck on the books we decided to head back home but the boys all fell asleep in the van.

The boys never nap good after they fall asleep in the van first so I dropped Misty off at Once Upon a Child to look for some summer clothes for the boys while I stayed in the van with them. Still asleep after she was finished, I stopped by CompUSA to look some. By this time, it was to late to go home if we were goign to go to church tonight so we went to get some ice cream and then to church.

One more stop after church, WalMart and finally home. We left home around 9 or so in the morning and got back around 8. It was a good day out. It was the first weekend in church where Misty and I could worship togheter since the first of January. I have had to fill in some in production for all of February so it was good for us.

Next weekend though, dropping the boys off at the grandparents while we go to the Smokies for a aniversay weekend getaway.
