Boys night out

Well, Misty needed to get some stuff done around the house and to date, I haven't taken the boys out just for a couple of hours by myself yet so I guess tonight was the night.

So, off the four of us went to dinner at Sonny's BBQ and then to feed the fish and ducks at a local shopping center. It was a great night out for us. Having twins brings all kinds of craziness. Having twins is not just twice the work of having one.

I guess I have just been leery of taking all three out be myself, but it had to be done :) It was easier than I thought so it may become a weekly event. At least according to Misty anyway :O

Yet another social network for me

Well, I have been playing with Facebook some lately. A friend of mine invited me a while back so I went ahead and signed up and added some friends. I have ran across some friends of mine and it's fun sometimes to see who I can run across out there. I am already on Linkedin and Myspace so we will see what Facebook has.

From what I can tell, you can't add java code to your profile so stuff like my Flickr badge and my Goodreads stuff won't work. I did find a Flickr replacement but it's not as good as the java badge.

Here are links to my profiles.

Going home! Well, sorta of

It's been a long process but after a couple of years of pushing out resumes and over a dozen interviews, I am headed back to work in the city of Richmond. In fact, I will be working for the city. I start with the IT department of the City of Richmond on July 30.

It is sorta of a homecoming to me. I moved to Richmond in 1991 to go to school and didn't leave until 2005. I met my wife there and we lived there when our sons were born. We still have friends there and I still do some work for Eastern Kentucky University during football season.

We miss Richmond and we look to move back someday. Maybe sooner than later but we will have to wait and see. This is also will be a growing experience for me. I can use my current skill set real quick and be able to learn a lot more in the process. I will miss my current job but it was only a contractor position so the benefits were not the greatest. The people I work with are great but sometimes the needs of the family have to be met and this is a huge step in the right direction.  I can't wait.

I'm going home :)

It's someone else's grief now

When I first moved out of the dorms at Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond, Ky and got my own place with my own phone number, the city was really starting to grow and I was surprised to hear that I would be one of the first in the city with the newest phone prefix. I won't go into detail on the prefix nor the number but let's just say that the last four numbers were familiar to a lot of people wanting other phone numbers.

I would get several hang ups on my answer machine when I was not at home and would get several "I'm sorry. I have the wrong number" when I was at home.

Well, I have since dropped land line phones and have moved so that number is no longer associated to me. After reading a column about a phone number, the writer talked about reverse phone numbers so I thought I would look up my old phone number and see if it has been reassigned and low and behold, it has. I thought about calling it and telling them I am sorry and I hope they are not getting to many wrong numbers. Oh well, not my problem anymore.
