I was hoping this week to see some post from Jason, Ed or Tony on the Church IT Roundtable down in Texas but nobody seems to be posting on it. I was wondering if their network was down and if I needed to come down and fix it? ;)

Is Church IT Roundtable disconnected?

Skype and your sound system
There was a thread last month at Churchmedia.net dealing with a church wanting to make a phone call and allow the church to hear the conversation. The user ended up using Skype to make the call. All he had to do was to patch the pc into the sound board. Many of us do that already. Just take the audio out of the pc and into the sound board, but with Skype you can also also take an aux out of the sound board and go into the mic jack on the pc. You will need to do some major adjusting to the gains and levels but that's no big issue.
With that and for churches doing Imag, will it be possible to find a way to run your video feed into Skype and use that instead of a webcam? For the received video, you can just drag the box over to your extended desktop and put that image up on your projector screens, but is there a way to feed video into the pc and Skype? Something to think about.
What other opportunities are there for Skype in the chruch world?

Water pipes and email subscriptions
Ok so what happens when you have a couple of weeks of 80 degree weather when spring starts? You start doing stuff outside the house, you know, planting flowers and such. And to water them what do you do? You drag the water hose out to water them. Then what should you do if you have a record cold spell? Disconnect the hose. What didn't we do. You got it, disconnect the hose. Now we have a small leak. Part of the floor in the house is wet. It only leaks when the faucet is on so that is good. Have to look into it some more to see where exactly the leak is at. I can see it leaking up under the crawl space. But fun stuff. :(
Also, I hadn't posted this in a long time but thought I would do it again for any new readers. At least I hope I have a few new ones :) You can subscribe by either clicking any of the icons on the right side of the blog using your favorite reader of you can enter your email address in the form here and receive it by email. Have a great week. Time to start drying out the house

HAPPY EASTER!!
Hope everyone had a Great Easter. I just finished five services and Misty worked the three this morning so we are beat. Zach and Gabe are napping and Colby has been watching tv. I don't know a count yet, but pretty much every service had a nearly full house including the last two this morning were packed. Overflow seating was brought in. Anyway, time to get some rest before heading over to Misty's aunt and uncle's house for dinner and egg hunting. Just about to cold to be hunting eggs but the boys are waiting :)

Friends and funeral homes :(
I just got back from the funeral home. A friend of mine since like the first grade passed away earlier this week. I found out this morning that the visitation was today and the funeral is tomorrow. Ran into several friends there tonight and it's ashame that we only meet in times like this. You always hear sayings like that from your parents when you grew up but now I am hearing myself say it. It's good that I ran into some of them when I got there. It helped some. I'm ok but tomorrow may be a bit rough. A little prayer would be helpful. Thanks.

Service Interaction
Ran across this today and in fact this is the second church I heard about in the blogosphere (don't know if I spelled that right) doing something like this. Basically you have your members in the service text message you during the service. In the first post I read and I will have to go back and find it but basically they request that members text their prayer and praise request to a number and they put them up in real time on the screens.
In this one the pastor had the members text message him questions and he answered them in the service or he is going to answer them over the next week on his blog and in the next service.

Happy Birthday to ... well me :)
Yes it's my birthday today. The boys called me as I was driving into work this morning to wish me a Happy Birthday. They were asleep when I left so Misty let them call me. Nothing like hearing your children wishing you a Happy Birthday :) She told me she took them shopping yesterday for me and they picked out the presents. She told me that Zach wanted to buy me paper cups :)
We will have cake and ice cream later this evening. Don't know about dinner yet. Maybe just something at home, we will see. I will try and post either tonight or tomorrow what I ended up with :)

Skypecast of your service?
I had some time to kill while I was watching five kids :O Misty was helping her aunt with a cooking party so I was checking email and such and logged into Skype. I had seen their skypecast on the client but never looked into it so I clicked the link and off I went. One thing I ran across I thought was neat is a church over in England is Skypecasting their services. Landsdowne Baptist Church is the church. I don't see anything on their website about it so I don't know how much they are promoting it, but yet another way of a church finding new ways of getting God's word out to the world.

Anniversary weekend
Well, I wish I had taken my laptop with me, to some extent anyway, this weekend so I could have blogged about our anniversary weekend getaway to the Smokies. Ok, so I really didn't wish that, but I would like to have found someway to blog about it. Somebody want to give me a Treo? :)
We dropped the boys off at my parents house on Friday morning and took off for the weekend. Wednesday will be our 9th anniversary and it's been the greatest nine years of my life :) We had dinner at Calhoun's, a local place known for their ribs, and at the Hard Rock Cafe on Saturday in Gatlinburg. Of course a trip to the Smokies is not complete for me without a stop to the Log Cabin Pancake House in Pigeon Forge. They have probably the best breakfast in the world there. Anytime we go down there, we have breakfast there one morning no matter if the hotel provides it or not. We also visited Wonder Works, an amusement park for the mind as they put it. They have over 100 interactive exhibits for you that range from trying to strike out Barry Bonds to landing the Space Shuttle. I wanted to try to flight the fighter jet, but it was running Microsoft Flight Simulator and it had blue screened, but that's another post. Pictures to follow :)
It was fun just to have time with Misty. With three boys, our time together gets real limited sometimes and we work on making time for each other when we can be it just dinner out or getting away for a night or two. We feel it's an important part of our marriage and feel that it's also important for the boys. It makes us stronger as a couple which means it helps us being parents also. I will have pictures up later.
